We Believe...

Hard to 100% buy it from HD now days, but it still hits home a little...

A Biker....

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.
But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk.
But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant.
But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by.
But, you didn't see me, riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children.
But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you, stare at my long hair.
But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves.
But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none.

I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos.
But, you didn't see me, cry as my children were born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.
But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family.

I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.
But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car.
But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.
But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you, race down the road in the rain.
But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date

I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.
But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.

I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.
But, you didn't see me, leave the road.

I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.
But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you, go home to your family.
But, you didn't see me.

Because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family.
But, you didn't see me.

The creation of a pussy!

Seven wise men with knowledge so fine
Created a pussy to their design.

First was a butcher, smart with wit,
Using a knife, he gave it a slit.

Second was a carpenter, strong and bold,
With a hammer and chisel, he gave it a hole.

Third was a tailor, tall and thin,
By using red velvet, he lined it within.

Fourth was a hunter, short and stout,
With a piece of fox fur, he lined it without.

Fifth was a fisherman, nasty as hell,
He threw in a fish and gave it a smell.

Sixth was a preacher whose name was McGee,
He touched it and blessed it and said it could pee.

Last came a sailor, a dirty little runt,
He sucked it and fucked it and called it a cunt

Keep it in the wind fuckers! Almost Spring!

What happend to the springer?

In the end about three things kept that from happening.

The first and biggest, money! I didn't trust any of the cheaper front ends and couldn't pay for any of the ones I did like. I could have pulled it off, but the next issue helped to stop me.

The stock VTX neck design and its square back bone. It's a bunch of stamped steel wrapped around the back bone and down tubes. I just couldn't come up with a clean replacement design that I liked. Every time I would draw something up, i ended up just wanting to build a whole new frame for it. I didn't have the time or the tooling for that, so it was enough to stop it.

And the third thing was time. I ended up moving shops (and houses) twice this winter and that took up a lot of time. When it came time to get shitting and getting, i just ran out of time. We have a run April 5th and I am pushing REAL hard to get the bike together by then. It looks like we will be waiting on the tins to get back from paint and the new brake and throttle lines.

As always, its still in my head and I am already planning on next winters project. I really want to try building a frame from scratch. 3,500 will get me a tube bender, a good tig and all the DOM i need.

This song has nothing to due with why I didnt get the springer on the bike, but it still sets the mood.

Into the wiring harness and back again; a bikers tale!

The rear rotor right from the wheel

The homemade "buffer".....

After a little "buffing"

The frame after a weekend of work. The engine is in and mounted. The swing arm and hub is installed as well as the triple tress (which were also polished via the home made "buffer")

Forks, trees, risers installed with the front wheel. The forks, risers, rotors and wheel all spent some time on the buffer.

The shorty risers for the 20" fatty apes. (also the new headlight...)

Front controls installed.

Radiator bolted in.

New lamp mounted.

Front end almost done - just need to wire everything.

Rear brakes coated and installed with the rear wheel.

The wire harness...... I was scared!

Bike is a roller again!

The bike is a roller again! I would show you, but I can't due to the fact that I left the camera at my mothers house this weekend at easter. I'll grab it tonight, but for now, we have something ever better!!!

Spring is here (and the fucking bike is still in fucking boxes!)

Well it's the first day of spring. It's 65 and sunny outside. It's a great day! The bike is still in boxes! Damn It!

We have gotten alot done, but there is a alot left to do. The frame is painted and ready with the motor sitting in it ready to be mounted this weekend. As far as the engine goes, its mostly done. I still need to remove the pair value, clean up some of the fins a little more and change all of its fluids. The tank and fender are at kenny's getting the last of the body work taken care of. When I get them back I need to seal the inside of the tank with the Kream stuff I got from jpcycles. After that it's back to his place for paint. Either red or black..... Don't know yet.

While that is going on, I need to finish the sanding on the forks. I am not even 25% done with the first one. Not sure if I will be able to pull this off or not. If not, then the fall back plan will be to get some of the chrome covers they have for them. They look okay, but I would rather just polish and clear coat them as they are.

Here is the rest list....

  • Seal the tank with Kream
  • Finishing painting the tank and rear fender
  • Finish sanding and polishing the forks
  • Remove pair value from engine and wire harness
  • Wire new head light
  • Mount and wire new tail light (or get a new side mount light)
  • Mount engine in the frame
  • Install battery, wire harness, EPC, PowerCommander
  • Mount and wire new handle bars
  • Order new clutch, throttle and front brake cables for new bars
  • Polish Wheels
  • Measure and order new radiator hoses
  • Measure and order new fuel hoses
  • Fab up and paint or polish a new shifter linkage

Parts, Paint and Polish

Well after a long hard weekend, there isn't a whole lot to show. We are getting to the point where most of the big things are done and we are into the details. We worked 15 hours this weekend and most things look the same still!

We did get the motor into the frame, but not all mounted.

The tank and the rear fender are off to the painters (Kenny). He is going to finish the body work (getting the lines 100% true) and then I'm going to use his booth to prime, paint, clear and polish them.

Most of the weekend was spent sanding and painting the rest of the little parts we need for the bike. Sunday we get into the front end and started sanding and polishing the triple trees and forks.

The trees took around 3 or 4 hours. The forks will take a lot more. I have 3 hours into one, and its not even close yet. I am still hitting it with 200 grit! (400, 800 and 1,200 left to go - and then the polishing!)

The boys helping me in the shop!

The motor sitting in the frame. Ready to get mounted this week.

My boys in the shop with me this weekend, helping sand the little parts and paint! The oldest is mine. The younger is my sisters.

The rear hub after sanding.

The rear hub after painting. Still needs buffed.

New and old head light (new on the left)

First pass at one of the forks. Now time for 5 to 6 hours of sanding!!!!

Fenders, Frames and Motors, Oh My!

Lots been going on over the last week or so. Here are some pics!

The rear fernder after filling the old rear tail light and the old mounting holes for the side markers.

The tank, rear fender and the motor ready for paint

Some molding and sanding work on the frame after finishing all the welding.

Frame back from the painters

Engine getting ready for paint - all the chrome off

Taped up and ready for paint. We are going black with polished lower fins

Engine painted! This is a bad pic but it looks great in person. Need to touch up one or two fins when it all dries, but it looks mean!

Starting to look like a bike again!

The tins are headed out to the body guy this week! I sent again and got them mocked up on the frame to make sure everything was still fitting. It looks like a bike again! That makes me so fucking happy I could just shit!

The Pigasus - Painted His Wheels!

I was cleaning up around the shop and found a can of enamel black spay paint that I picked up for the bus wheels a while back. Since it was around 70 out today I went ahead and pulled the bus up and had the boys come out and do a little wire wheeling with me. Nothing special, but after around 30 minutes we had those old white chipped up wheels looking good!

Rear Fender

Even after running out of oxygen for the torch and blowing the motor up on the compressor, I managed to get a lot done.

I spend most of saturday working on a few little things (tacked in motor mounts) and then filling in a patch for the rear oem fender where the old tail light was.

Old stock hole for the tail light.

Paper template for the piece needed.

Cut close to size and then finished afterwards on the grinder

Test fit after ginding

All tacked up and ready to be sanded back down.

Fucking Store!

Well after almost 3 hours of fucking me around, I am back home from the store without a single thing I went there to get.

All I really needed was a refill for the oxygen tank for me O/A setup.

It took an hour to find someone that was allowed to sign for an exchange. After we had all of that taken care of and paid for I walked out to yard to get a new bottle and they were out of #2 bottles! They had #1 and #3, but no #2's!
